Psalm 16:1 – “Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.”

Preserve me – means to hedge about (as with thorns) – to beware, be circumspect, take heed, keep, mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch(-man).
God – El – all powerful. The Almighty – power strong, great.
my trust – that is my hope, my refuge, my protection.
Cross Reference – Job recognizes God as the “Preserver of men” (Job 7:20). This is the guarding, the watching over, the preserving – as a shepherd watches over his sheep.

It seems as though the beginning of this Psalm is the proclamation that God is the Preserver of men, the One who watches over us – guards and protects us – as a shepherd watches over his sheep. In Him, and Him alone, we put our refuge, our hope, our trust of protection. In the middle of EVERY moment, not just the challenging ones, let this be our prayer
He preserves me… I am nowhere without Him putting me there and it is Him that is a strong around me.
He is God… strong to save – to keep me – to preserve – He is my best ally – my best defender – my best and only defense – my judge and my love.
Him do I trust… In Him alone, He is my trust – in Him do I trust. Not even in my own ability to get things done but in Him… Not in my righteousness, but in His… Not in my own staying power, but in His.
